Therapy Services

Stacey Hodges, OTR/L;  Director Rehab Services

Stacey graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1997 with a BA in Occupational Therapy.  After graduation she began her career at St. Luke’s Hospital where she focused on inpatient rehabilitation and acute care.  Stacey advanced her knowledge in neurologic injuries consisting of stroke rehab, spinal cord injury, and brain injury while on the inpatient rehab setting.  Stacey began her career at Virginia Gay Hospital in 2003 where she began expanding the Occupational Therapy Department.  In 2006, Stacey became the Director of Rehab Services.  Stacey continues to work at St. Luke’s Hospital on weekends as needed, where she continues to advance her knowledge in rehabilitation and acute care.  Her interests are outpatient therapy focusing on neurological injuries and upper extremity injuries

Kim Simon, DPT

Kim graduated from University of Iowa in 2002 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.  She then received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Iowa in 2004.  During physical therapy school, Kim was a physical therapy technician at St. Luke’s Hospital in Children’s Therapy Center and adult rehabilitation.  She started her career at Virginia Gay Hospital in 2005 where she focused on outpatient therapy and pediatrics.  Kim has taken continuing education courses to advance her manual therapy techniques via the Maitland approach.  Kim’s special interests are in orhopedics, vestibular rehab, and pediatrics

Sarah Eikenberry, MPT

Sarah graduated from University of Iowa where she achieved a Master’s in Physical Therapy in 2001.  Prior to that, she graduated from Wartburg College with a BA in biology.  After graduation, she started her career at Virginia Gay Hospital servicing all areas for Benton County and the hospital.  After 5 years, she transitioned to Independence Hospital where she was able to focus more on outpatient therapy.  After 2 years, she returned back to Virginia Gay Hospital since the new building project struck interest in her ability to start new programs that could benefit the community.  Sarah’s interests are women’s health, pilates, and athletic injuries.    

Jenny Hoeger, ST

Jennifer graduated from University of Northern Iowa in 1997 with her Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.  She started her career working in long term care and outpatient therapy.  Jennifer then transitioned to working at Witwer Children’s Therapy Center focusing on pediatrics.  She started her career at Virginia Gay Hospital in 2001, where she was able to begin building a pediatric case load.  Jennifer has a tremendous passion to improve the quality of life in pediatric patients.  Her interests are sensory integration, apraxia, and overall treatments that would improve the pediatric population.

Kelly Tilson, COTA

Kelly graduated from Kirkwood College in 1992 where she specialized in the Occupational Therapist Assistant program.  She has practiced long term care for a majority of her experience treating a wide variety of geriatric injuries/disabilities.  Kelly has been at Virginia Gay Hospital since 1996 treating patients in the hospital setting, home health, long term care, and outpatient.  Prior to 1996, she was a CNA at Virginia Gay Hospital assisting the inpatients and skilled care.  This helped her learn patience for her clients.  Her special interests are geriatrics, upper extremity injuries, and stroke rehabilitation

Robin Pippert, COTA

Robin graduated from Kirkwood College in 1994 where she specialized in the Occupational Therapist Assistant program.  She has practiced in the inpatient rehabilitation setting at Covenant Hospital where she has treated neurologically impaired patients consisting of stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injuries.  She also has practiced in home health and long term care prior to starting at Virginia Gay Hospital.  Robin started at Virginia Gay Hospital in 2001 where she treated patients in all settings.  Her special interests are pediatrics and manual therapy.

Ryan DeCamp, PTA

Ryan began his career in 1981 at St. Luke’s Hospital as a therapy aide.  He then finished a 2 year technician program at St. Luke’s.  Ryan was then grandfathered in as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 1992.  Ryan worked at St. Luke’s full time until he began a career in outpatient services at Anamosa Hospital.  In 2003, Ryan began his career at Virginia Gay Hospital where he enjoys servicing long term care and home health.  Ryan special interests are geriatrics, total joint replacements, wound care, and prosthetic training.  He continues to work at St. Luke’s as needed to advance his knowledge in inpatient settings.

Brenda Werning, PTA

Brenda graduated from University of Iowa in 1994 with a bachelor’s in Psychology.  She then went to Kirkwood College graduating in Physical Therapist Assistant program in 1997.  She started her career at Virginia Gay Hospital after graduation.  Brenda has serviced all areas at the hospital with her main focus on outpatient therapy.  She has taken courses specializing in Pilates, Myofascial Release, and Manual therapy.  Brenda is a Pilates instructor and is an accredited clinical instructor.  Brenda works closely with Kirkwood College and University of Iowa on clinical students.  Her special interests are utilizing manual techniques for treatment.

Wendi Robertson, PTA

Wendi graduated from Kirkwood College in 2005 where she specialized in the Physical Therapist Assistant program.  Prior to becoming a Physical Therapy Assistant, Wendi was a therapy technician at Virginia Gay Hospital.  She started as a PTA in 2005 focusing on outpatient therapy.  Wendi’s interests are total knee replacements and sports injuries.  Wendi has been nicknamed the “Crippler”, “Queen of Mean”, “Crusher”, and “Princess of Pain” by all of her patients who love her.  If you want your knees to get better, come see her.

Physical Therapy

Muscular and Skeletal Injuries- We work with any joint, muscle, ligament or tendon injuries.
Pre and Post Surgical Rehab- Just to name a few including neck, rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacements, back surgeries, hip replacements, knee replacements, ligament reconstructions, and ankle/foot surgeries.
Back Care- Education of lifting techniques, use Pilates to increase core strength to decrease stress on spine.
Balance Disorders –Vestibular problems such as Vertigo, ataxia, post CVA, and Parkinson’s.
Postural Issues/Training
Headaches-With using manual techniques we can rid you of your headache
Incontinence-Training and strengthening of muscles to help control urge.
Wound Care-Debridement of wounds to ensure proper healing.  Anodyne, an Infrared machine is available to increase the speed of healing. 
Pain-Management of all types of pain with use of  therapeutic exercises, manual techniques and many more interventions.
